There is nothing like an answered prayer. “Big” ones. “Small” ones. It doesn’t really matter. When God answers a prayer that you have, it gives you fuel to pray more, and with confidence, knowing that He is listening.
Four years ago, Wynter and I wrote a series of prayers for our four daughters, which has inevitably led to our most recent book; She Is Yours. Along with praying that God would protect them, bring them into relationship with Him and many other aspects of their lives, we prayed that God would use them in His Kingdom.
We know He saved them for relationship with Him but that is only the beginning. He saved them to be ambassadors for Him. To be salt and light in a dark and decaying world. We prayed, four years ago, and still pray that our girls would be just that– beacons of light and hope to a world in need around them.
Honestly, we really did not know what we were asking for! About a year after starting this prayer journey, our oldest daughter was given the opportunity to audition to play the part of Danielle Jordan in the film War Room.
It was to be a film on prayer and trusting God with your life. Little did we know, nor would we imagine, that she would get the part and take the adventure of her life—Kingdom Purpose.
Alena would star as a girl who sees prayer modeled by her mom, played by Priscilla Shirer, and experiences her own answered prayers as a result. Her role gave her a small part in motivating countless little girls and families to seek the Lord in prayer all around the world— Salt & light.
Through this particular journey with Alena, we have learned that God not only answers prayers but He is asking that we trust Him with His plans for our daughters’ lives.
At times, in the day to day, we have been guilty of taking answered prayers for granted because the details don’t always match our expectations. Not all answered prayers lead to movies! Sometimes answered prayers are unexpected and fun and other times they can be seemingly mundane and easily overlooked. Whether it is a prayer for a friendship, a science test or a good day, take time with your girls and celebrate our God who knows our hearts and hears our prayers! Show them they can Trust His plan and purpose for them.
I challenge you to pray for your daughter. More than that, I challenge you to pray, trusting that God will answer. Simply pray, “Lord, She is Yours” and watch for His hand and Kingdom purpose in your daughter’s life.
What prayers are you expecting God to answer for yours today?
