THIS IS HOW WE OVERCOME

 Our May/June 2023 issue was one of the most difficult topics we have covered, but in the end, became one of the most beautiful and uplifting collections of our readers’ inspiring and hope-filled stories. We are all strengthened in spirit by and for each other.

This is our OVERCOMERS issue—and that theme hit home in a sadly unexpected way, as we dedicated this special issue to one of our readers, Ava, who passed away earlier this year. Even in her story, with an ending no one wished for, she exemplified the strength and faith of a true God’s Girl.

Inside you’ll also meet our cover girls, Merin and Tessa Brown. Tessa was born missing both of her legs and her right arm. People sometimes feel sorry for these sisters—because what they must overcome is visible. But they feel their circumstances are no more a struggle than anyone else’s. And together, they are showing themselves—and all of us—that we get through the hard stuff by helping each other.

And, of course, our readers share their challenging, inspiring, miraculous, and filled-with-faith-and-love stories of their own moments they’ve had to overcome. You will not walk away unmoved when you read the incredible accounts by these tweens who have trusted their hearts to Jesus.

This issue also includes favorites with our LOL page and some super-groan-y laughs, a craft that will have you buzzing, and our Before You Go page of quotes to remind us of God’s promises in times of darkness and words of advice for trying times.

We hope this issue will be a great reminder to you and your girl that we are all in this together, and together He watches over us all.
