Non-fiction Story: Moving Closer to God When Moving

Have you ever moved? It is a sad, yet an exciting adventure, you feel terrified, happy, and a feeling of being unsettled. It’s hard to think about, right!? Leaving your house, friends, and everything you know! I also had to leave my grandparents, who lived next door!

The day my Dad got a professor job, so many emotions welled up inside me. But God was with me through it all, and I knew he had great plans for us.

Moving can be hard, but I want to share these verses that helped me:  Jeremiah 29:11 tells us, “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future,” Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge him, and he will direct your path,” Psalms 32:8 reads, “The Lord says, ‘I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.”

In these verses, it is clear that God is with us and is working all things for His good and His will. God has a great plan for all of us!

My mom would always say something her mom (my mum-mum) always said, “We are too blessed to be stressed, and too anointed to be disappointed,” and I always try to remember this saying that really is the truth that we read in God’s word. Now, you shouldn’t dismiss your feelings, just don’t stay in them, remind yourself that YOU are a child of God, He is with you, and He loves you!

Whatever valley you may be in, remember who is there with you to endure all things! Jesus said in John 16:33, “In this world you WILL have trouble, but take heart, I have overcome the world!” Joseph had gone through a lot. His brothers did some horrible things. When he saw them again, we read that it says in Genesis 50:20, “As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good…”

God was with me in my move, and he is with you whether you move or in any difficult situation! Draw near to God, because he will draw near, and give you the strength to endure!
