One day, in a beautiful town, lived a beautiful girl named Joana. Her hair was jet black. It was very silky and thick, but she couldn’t show it. She was Muslim. Her family had strict rules about hair showing in public. So all of her silky hair was never seen.
One breezy day in September, there was a shop opening up called His Branches, Your Vines. Joana thought it looked fun. She went over to it at about noon. It was a bookstore. “Hello, how may I help you?” asked a kind lady. She had a necklace on that had a cross hanging on it with diamonds on the cross. “Do you have any books here you think I might enjoy?” Joana asked. “Of course! My name is Alison,” Alison answered. “What’s that cross?” asked Joana. “It stands for my faith in Jesus,” Alison answered. “Isn’t Jesus Allah’s prophet?” Joana asked. “I am Christian,” Alison said. “I believe Jesus is God. He’s my Savior.” Alison handed Joana a thick book. “Read some of this. Come back tomorrow and tell me what you think,” Alison said. Joana took the book. “Thanks,” Joana said. She left in wonder.
That day Joana read through the book. She didn’t read all of it, but she read a fat amount of it. “So this is what she believes,” Joana thought. It was interesting and she liked how she had to believe in God to go to heaven. Not just be good. There isn’t a real meaning of good, so she never knew if she was good enough.
The next day, Joana went back to the book store. Alison was there again. “So, what do you think?” she asked. Joana and Alison talked all day. Alison helped Joana understand. Joana accepted Christ. She told her parents about God. They read the Bible and accepted Christ as well. Joana never wore that shawl again. She loved God for the rest of her life and always prayed. And God always answered.
