Always Be Yourself

By Nora Moos, age 9

One day, a nine-year-old girl named Quinn was going to a new school. On her first day, she was wearing a pink unicorn shirt and a long purple skirt. Most of the girls were wearing short jean shorts and t-shirts. Most of the boys were wearing baggy jeans and oversized shirts. Her teacher said, “Come introduce yourself.”

At lunchtime, she saw an open seat next to a girl in her class named Madison. She sat down next to her and said, “Hello, I am in your class and my name is Quinn.” Madison responded, “Look, girls, what is she wearing?! YUCK!” Quinn ran away from the table and went to the bathroom to cry.

The next day, Quinn was wearing a shirt she stole from her little sister that was too small and jeans that were too tight and short. She felt like a teenager and cool. She sat down at the table with Madison and her friends. Madison looked at her and said, “Love the outfit, Quinn.”

Meanwhile, a girl named Penelope sat down next to Madison, wearing something similar to what she had worn the day before. Quinn wanted to fit in, so she said, “Oh… your outfit is ugly.” Penelope left and the other girls laughed.

Quinn immediately felt so bad. She was going to say sorry, but she did not want to leave the cool group. When she got home, her parents did not seem very happy with her. They had found out what happened at lunch, and they were not happy about her outfit either. She tried to explain, but her parents kept getting more and more angry. She was sent up to her room until dinner was ready.

She had learned a lesson. She had not been herself that day. She had not been the sweet girl that God created her to be. She had not treated others the way she wanted to be treated. She had not been using the personality that God gave her. The next day she said sorry to Penelope, and they became great friends. They were both using the wonderful personality that God gave them. Nice, pretty, smart, and a wonderful girl. Quinn is God’s girl, and she has a wonderful gift from the Lord.

You are also God’s girl, and no matter what, He will always love you.

THE END
