We are Chosen – Week 15

You are not an accident. It is no mistake that you are here, that you woke up this morning, and that you are watching this video. You are chosen and have a purpose. As Christians, we all share the gift of being a light.

1 Peter 2:9 says:

“But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.”

In verse 8, Peter is talking about people who have rejected God, but verse 9 goes on to talk about how we belong to God. We are chosen people, royal priests, and His very own possession. Now, what do we do with this information? We live it. We celebrate the fact that we are chosen by the King. He wants us to spread this joy and be a light to this world. This world is so dark, but because we belong to God, we get to carry His light and not blend in with the darkness. We stand out!

That is us. We stand out, and people notice a difference in us when we live for Jesus and do good deeds.

Don’t ever forget that this is why we are here. It can be so easy to take the Jesus light we have and steal it for our own sake, for attention that glorifies us. But remember, it isn’t about us at all. The light we have is for Him and Him alone, to bring people to Him and to shine in dark times.
