The Power of God’s Whisper – Week 5
Do you want to hear the voice of God, but for some reason you can’t? You do all the right things: you pray, read your Bible, worship, love others… but it still feels like something is blocking you.
I remember seasons in my life when I felt like God wasn’t around because I couldn’t hear Him or see something big and dramatic happening. Over time, I’ve learned that God isn’t always loud or doing something huge in our lives, and that’s okay. God is gentle. He is quiet, humble, and meek. Those are qualities of Him that we can easily miss when life gets loud.
In 1 Kings chapter 19, Elijah the prophet is afraid after standing up for God, and he feels completely alone. So he runs to a mountain to hear from God. Starting in verse 12, it says: “After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.” After all those dramatic things happened… God whispered to Elijah.
Maybe God is trying to whisper to you too. Yes, doing all the “right” things matters, and God calls us to do them, but that doesn’t mean he will always move in loud or dramatic ways. Sometimes it’s something simple He wants you to hear or notice. Sometimes He speaks in the middle of the normalcy of life. In the quiet. Through the little things we sometimes overlook.
So be still. Quiet your mind from all the chaos going on around you. Make intentional space for God, because maybe He’s trying to whisper something to you.
