God is in Control – Week 5 Devotional
God is in Control – Week 5
Have you been in a situation that scared you? Maybe a loud storm or a time you were lost? Those situations can be really scary! But, when we remember that the Lord holds us, we can relax and know that we are safe with Him.
Proverbs 3:5-6 says to trust in the Lord with all your heart—not just with some of it. The verse also says not to lean on your own understanding, but in all things to follow the Lord and trust in Him—even in scary thunderstorms or when we are lost.
Deborah was a great leader in the Bible in Judges. I assume she was afraid at times facing Sisera’s huge army, but she trusted in the Lord, so she was confident. Deborah sought God a step at a time and knew He went ahead of her.
When we look away from fear and look to the Lord instead by praying, reading Scripture, or another way, we are trusting in the Lord and not in our fears. We can trust that He will make our paths straight and lead us. The God of the Universe is in charge and over everything so we can be at peace and find comfort that we are led by Him.
