Don’t Let the Enemy Distract You – Week 21

John 10:10 says, “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”

The enemy is a thief. You read it yourself, straight from the words of Jesus. I am here today to encourage y’all to not let him win. My dad always says, “Keep your head on a swivel.” It used to confuse me, but as I’ve gotten older I have used this as a way to be aware. Be aware of the enemy and his lies. He loves nothing more than when we fall into his traps and when he steals our joy, peace, boldness, contentment, love, etc.

Have you ever noticed when something really cool is happening soon, that you know is from God, but then you start getting all these doubts and thoughts that are kind of weakening your excitement? That is the enemy. I am in a season of that right now. God is working and He has put so many blessings and opportunities to spend His glory in front of me. But every now and then I get waves of fear, waves that I am not good enough… and you know what? That is not from our King. In this verse Jesus literally says, “My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” Those fears and doubts do not align with Jesus’ words, so we therefore know they are not from Him, but from the enemy.

Here are some things that Satan loves to use as distractions from seeing what God is doing in your life:

1st. Fear — I feel like every time God is doing something, fear is usually something that arises in me, and it’s fear for no reason.

2nd. Discouragement — I personally start to feel like, oh, something better could be happening, or this isn’t gonna be as good as I think.

3rd. Drama — The enemy loves when unity isn’t a thing.

There are plenty more, these are just the ones that distract me the most. I say all of this to help us be more aware. Be more aware of what is from God, what is from Satan, and what a distraction is. This week I encourage you to spot the distractions in your life. 

Once you become aware of these little things, the less they affect you. This verse, John 10:10 has been really good combat for me when I start to realize the enemy is distracting me with these unreasonable things.
God is working in your life, don’t let Satan steal the joy and fruit that comes out of that.
