5 Ways to Teach Purity of Mind, Body, and Soul

Can I be honest with you about something?

The word purity carries a lot of baggage for most of us. Depending on the messages you grew up with — the ones spoken out loud and the ones never said at all — that word might bring up more shame than freedom. More pressure than peace.

So let’s start by gently reframing what purity actually means.

It’s not about perfection. It’s about wholeness.

In Courageous Girls, we’re guiding moms and daughters to see that their entire being — their thoughts, feelings, desires, and yes, even their messiest moments — matter deeply to God. Not just the put-together parts. All of it. As our girls learn to bring their honest, unedited hearts to God and to safe people in their lives, something beautiful happens. They discover the freedom that comes with living fully in the light.

And mama — that includes you.

Because when your daughter feels truly seen, loved, and heard — and she watches you model what it looks like to actually care for your own heart, mind, body, and soul — everyone grows. Everyone heals. Everyone becomes a little more whole.

Here are 5 ways to teach your daughter purity in mind, body and soul:

  1. Start with the heart, not just behavior
Remind her purity begins inside—create space for honest conversations about thoughts and feelings.
  2. Model what you want her to believe
Let her see you live with grace, speak kindly about your body, and handle emotions in healthy ways.
  3. Keep confession and prayer normal
Show her she can bring anything to God—nothing has to stay hidden.
  4. Guard her influences while building resilience
Set wise boundaries while equipping her to navigate the world with strength and discernment.
  5. Replace comparison with gratitude and truth
Guide her back to who God says she is and practice gratitude together.

This journey was never about raising perfect girls.

It’s about raising girls who know their value and worth so deeply — who experience love so fully — that they can turn around and love others well. Including themselves.

That is the goal. That is Courageous Girls.
