The Power of Gods Peace – Week 17
John 14:27 says: Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Are you worried, stressed, or overwhelmed by upcoming things in your life? I know I am. I have always struggled with feeling overwhelmed. If you ever feel overwhelmed or that you can’t keep up with everything and it stresses you, take a pause. Breathe in and breathe out. Everything is going to be okay.
In this passage, Jesus is soon to be nailed to the cross, and He says these words to His disciples. Prior to these words, He talks about the Holy Spirit being in those who believe in Him. Through the Spirit, we experience God’s peace, a peace that the world cannot give us.
Do you want this peace? Well, guess what? You can have it. You don’t have to earn it; it’s a free gift. All you have to do is ask God for His perfect peace that surpasses everything. Jesus says, “I GIVE YOU.” If you believe Jesus Christ is Lord and you have accepted Him into your heart, this peace is yours.
What does this look like? Well, sometimes it looks like choosing the hard way. When we are stressed, we usually want to freak out, sometimes be rude to others, and complain. But choosing God’s peace looks like going to Him and asking for it. He will give it to you. Just keep seeking and choosing to pray when you really want to yell. Choosing to read Scripture to combat the lies and stresses.
Go to the Lord for peace. It’s waiting for you.
