God’s Scripture – Week 8 Devotional
God’s Scripture – Week 8
Would you ever have a best friend you never talked to or hung out with? Can you imagine how hard it would be to know them and recognize them? Well, funny enough, this question actually has a lot to do with our relationship with God.
Proverbs 4:20-22 says, “My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.”
This is why it is so important to be in the Word. God’s Scripture brings us life and healing. I know it can be hard to read the Bible sometimes because it feels boring or less fun than doing something else. Or maybe it is too confusing. All of those things are struggles I have had myself when it comes to reading God’s Word. But did you know He is not really making our time with Him all about that? Yes, it is important to understand Him and have the desire to be in His Word, but it’s okay to not know everything.
He just wants us to come. To read even when it is boring or confusing. He wants us to choose Him, and that is what it looks like. Choosing Him over the game on your phone. Reading a Bible verse when you wake up instead of watching TV right away. Those things are not bad, but God wants us to want Him more than worldly things.
And it gets even better. When we really dig into His Word consistently and make it a habit, the better we know the truth about God, ourselves, and others. This can only add to life. And the more you will be able to discern what God is trying to show you or speak to you. So what can you start doing today to get to know God more?
