Loving with Sacrifice – Week 2

Loving your neighbor often shows up in moments that interrupt your plans or require sacrifice — Love REQUIRES sacrifice. And that’s exactly when love shines the brightest. 

How do we do this? First, we can look at how Jesus loved us. He paid the highest price by dying on the cross for us, this is the greatest act of sacrifice ever done. 

John 13:34-35 Jesus tells His disciples “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Now don’t get overwhelmed, we thankfully don’t have to die on the cross to love others like Jesus loved us here on this earth, but we can serve others by sacrificing our wants and desires. Jesus spent His whole life serving people who were considered outcast or lowly. This shows us how we as christians are supposed to love. 

This kind of love doesn’t come out of our power, but actually comes from the strength of God and the Holy Spirit. The more we seek God and go to Him, the more we will know how to love like God.
